Barr. Aina Ololade Salami

Special Adviser/Director General, Lands & Survey

The Director General is the overall Political Head of the Bureau. This office is saddled with the responsibility of formulation, review and execution of all survey and land policies in the State. This office coordinates and supervises the activities of all the departments in the Bureau.


Mr. Aina Ololade SALAMI had his secondary school education at Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos where he sat for the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE); he also attended Saint Gregory’s College, Obalende, Lagos where he sat for his Higher School Certificate (HSC) examination.

A lawyer by profession; Mr. Aina SALAMI obtained his first degree in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1982 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983 and a Master of Law degree (LL.M) at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (formerly University of Ife), 1987.

Apart from his tertiary educational accomplishments, Mr. SALAMI also received a number of study sponsorships and trainings; some of which are:-

• The Canadian International Law Development Research Centre sponsorship award, to attend the Private International Law programme of the Hague Academy of International Law, International Court of Justice, Peace Palace, the Hague Netherlands (1991).

• The 32nd Study Session/programme of the International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France (2001).

• The Third Meeting and Training Programme of the African Forum for Utility Regulation (AFUR), Dakar, Senegal. Organized and sponsored by the World Bank. The Programme was for providers of Utility Services, Regulators and Consultants (2001).

As a law teacher of many years, Aina Salami taught several Law subjects at these three Nigerian Universities; Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (Unilag).

Through teaching and research output at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, he rose to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2001. As he got a number of public service appointments some years after, he later disengaged from University teaching service.

The following are the public service appointments held by Mr. Salami over the years;

• Senior Special Assistant (on Legal Matters) to the then Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria (2004 to 2007).

• The Pioneer Chairman, Citizens’ Mediation Centre (CMC), Lagos State, Nigeria (2007 to 2011).

• Senior Special Assistant (on Land Matters) to the then Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria (2008 to 2011).

• Executive Secretary, Land Use and Allocation Committee, Lagos State, Nigeria (2011 to May 2015).

• Chairman, Technical Committee on Land Excision, Lagos State, Nigeria (November 2009 to May, 2015).

Apart from being a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Salami is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and a registered member of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), United Kingdom.

Mr. Aina Salami, an experienced Consultant, and has among other projects, participated as embedded adviser and local expert in projects funded by International Agencies and Organizations - such projects involving the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and DfID (Department for International Development), United Kingdom.

On 4th November, 2020 Mr Aina Salami was appointed by Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR as the Special Adviser and Director-General, Bureau of Lands & Survey, Ogun State.
